Back in the game.

Now that I have my studio all set up, I have been back to my old ways of painting into the wee hours of the morning. My absolute favorite. (Of course, I have found that now that I am a mommy to a 3 year old, I do not have the energy I once had. But still, I'm rocking it.)

Here are a few selections from a current show that is hanging at The Studio in Laconia, called Used to Be. I am honored to hang there for my second time, with all my cool new works, painted on old wood, panels, windows and doors.

It's kind of funny (and super relative)...I named this show before I completely created it, back when I booked it last year. Who knew everything in my life would be so different and I would use the words "used to be" as much as I am these days?

Come on out to the opening reception for the show on November 15th! Will be lots of fun! :o)

Help get me to Asheville! :o)

Looks like I will be heading back to Asheville, NC for the winter again this year! Yippie! The dilemna: I am trying to raise money to fill Janis to get me there! As part of the Open Studio (at 'The Studio in Laconia, NH), I am silent auctioning off a GIANT painting I created. It's about 4x6.5' and organically hung with hemp twine from a giant found piece of driftwood. I hand stitched a pole pocket so it hangs straight and makes an instant mural! The bidding is starting at 49 cents at noon today and will go 'til 6:00 on Sunday. Swing on by 'The Studio' (see previous wall post for more info!) to place a bid, attend the Open House, listen to some live music and check out some FABULOUS artists! We're there all weekend! :o)

OPEN STUDIO WEEKEND!

OMG...I am SO excited. (I "OMG-ed"...THAT'S how excited I am!) The Studio, a FANTASTICAL, magical, creative place in Laconia (right on Union Ave., above 'Too Good To Be Threw') is opening their doors for a super duper Open House all weekend and I am going!
Melissa McCarthy is the magic behind this operation and I am so excited to have gotten to know her. She's shaking things up in Laconia...changing minds and lives and inspiring and you should come check it out! My good friend Jim Tyrrell (who you may remember from the hoppin' Holiday Open House at my shoppe!) is going to be the featured musician on Saturday from 3:00 & on. Come rock out and get your art on! Pass along the invite to ANYONE you think would love to be a part of it all and swing by from noon to six EITHER Saturday OR Sunday!
OMG.

I heart Howard Street Handmade

Oh my. What a great event! I was at Short Street Cakes (eating my yummy free cupcake, in fact) and I picked up a flyer to this indie craft fair: Howard Street Homemade. I popped in on Saturday mornin' as I was toolin' around in Janis, scoping out yard sales (my favorite, favorite, FAVORITE way to spend a Saturday morning with a good cup of coffee), and it was like I walked into a room of people who I actually spoke the same language with. I took the time to walk around and chat with most of the artists; a lot of them were earth-friendly artisans, working with pre-loved materials and found objects. Everything was beautiful, from the creative displays to the unique creations, to the recycled jewelry to the fun vibe that was flowing through the air. This was not your grandma's craft fair. No plastic canvas tissue box covers here or those half crocheted dishrags! This is just a teeny samplin' of all the groovy creations I saw. The show is featured the third Saturday of every month and I will be back next month for sure! If you are in the area, go check it out! Click here to check them out. Good stuff!

(Almost) Introducing...

I'm almost there. I have been designing these web pages for weeks, frantically scribbling ideas on the back of Wendy's napkins and post-its. Tweaking, creating, freaking out, deleting...this has been part of my creative process down the bumpy, windy road I am taking on this journey. But I feel I am almost there. Today I feel excellent about it all. Today I am using capital letters. Today I woke up, put on this big fun 80's sweater I am rockin', listened to some Missy Elliot (c'mon...can you hate her? I don't think so!) and said to myself, I am ready.

I had the joy, or rather the honor of attending an amazing business seminar on Wednesday...one that has provided me with a lifetime of inspiration. Acorn Creative Inc. and Epiphanies Inc., two creative NH based companies headed this day of seminars, information, brilliant ideas, encouragement and gave me some fabulous tools to apply to my business plan. I felt like Gonzo in that ending scene from Muppets from Space (shameless Jim Henson plug-- make popcorn and watch that movie tonight!) where he meets a group of characters just like him after spending his entire life being classified as a 'Whatever.' So while I don't have an elongated purple nose (yet...you never know how I will switch up my look though), and that might just be an awkward analogy, I sat in that room of 60 or so people and felt united with fellow New Hampshireites, all wandering the north country with a brain ready to explode from ideas and continually streaming creativity. The key is how I am going to use this, and Wednesday I feel I was given some tools to organize these overwhelming ideas, and use them to be successful in business.
Anyways...ahem: www.veggieartgirl.com. Coming SOON to a computer near you.
